Corey Kent White, Meghan Linsey Among ‘The Voice’ Top 12

The Voice’s one remaining country artist has advanced to the Top 12 on NBC’s popular singing competition. Corey Kent White, the soft-spoken 20 year-old from Bixby, Oklahoma, is one of three finalists on Team Blake. During Monday night’s Live Playoffs show, the country crooner offered up a heartfelt rendition of “Make You Feel My Love,” the Bob Dylan-penned love song that would also become a hit for Garth Brooks in 1989.

On Wednesday’s results show, host Carson Daly announced that White and teammate Meghan Linsey — the former Steel Magnolia country chanteuse-turned pop/soul vocalist — had earned enough viewer votes to move on to the next round. The Louisiana native’s victory comes after her rousing rendition of OneRepublic’s “Love Runs Out” on Tuesday’s show. Linsey and White advance alongside Texas college student Hannah Kirby, who was the surprise recipient of coach Blake Shelton’s one save.

Christina Aguilera chose to save soul/R&B singer Rob Taylor, after viewers voted to keep Kimberly Nichole and India Carney. Over on Team Pharrell, Sawyer Fredericks and Mia Z were saved by fans, while Koryn Hawthorne was the “Happy” hitmaker’s pick for his team’s third slot. And remaining on Adam Levine’s team are Joshua Davis, Deanna Johnson and Brian Johnson.

Shelton has emerged victorious in four of the past seven Voice seasons. Of his quartet of champions, three are pursuing careers as country artists: Season Three’s Cassadee Pope, Season Four’s Danielle Bradbery and Season Seven’s Craig Wayne Boyd.
