Cody Jinks, Brothers Osborne Lead ACL Festival Country Lineup

The Austin City Limits Music Festival has released its lineup for the two-weekend October affair, and there’s plenty for country fans to get excited about. Brothers Osborne, Luke Combs, Caitlyn Smith, Cody Jinks and Texas trio Midland will all play, while Americana fans can look forward to sets by Parker Millsap, Swedish sisters First Aid Kit and many others.
“This dude will sell out,” tweeted Jinks, whose 2016 album I’m Not the Devil was an indie hit among traditional country fans.
Additional country performers on the bill include western swing kings Asleep at the Wheel, plus Dale Watson and Ray Benson, Tucker Beathard, Striking Matches and Devin Dawson. On the Americana/folk end of the spectrum, there’s Valerie June, Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real, Band of Heathens, Paul Cauthen, and the Robert Ellis-related trio Traveller. The all-genre festival will be headlined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chance the Rapper, the Killers and Gorillaz.
Austin City Limits was conceived as a weekly television show on the Public Broadcasting Service in 1974 with an aim to highlight the city’s wide variety of music. Since the first episode, which featured Willie Nelson, it has been awarded the Presidential Medal of the Arts and holds the distinction for being the longest-running music program in television history, according to its website. Its festival was founded in 2002 and expanded to two weekends in 2012.
The
2017 edition of the festival will be held October 6th – 8th and the 13th – 15th in Austin’s Zilker Metropolitan Park.
