Chris Young Reveals Fall Tour: The Ram Report

Cassadee Pope is also along for the ride, with Dan + Shay and Dustin Lynch trading opening act duties

Chris Young will celebrate the 10th anniversary of his record deal with RCA this month, and he laughs at decade-old memories of driving a van (and sporting a cowboy hat) to open for other artists. My, how times have changed.

Today, the Tennessee native is selling out his own headlining shows and handpicking his own opening acts. His I’m Comin’ Over tour started last October, and he hasn’t stopped adding dates since. Today, Young announces the fall 2016 leg of the trek, with openers Dan + Shay in September and October and Dustin Lynch in November and December. Cassadee Pope, Young’s duet partner on his eighth Number One hit, “Think of You,” is along for the ride on all dates.

“The amount of momentum from this album launch — from the first single, from the fall tour and the spring leg that I did with Cassadee — has been massive,” he tells Rolling Stone Country. “So being able to springboard that into the summer and to really have great control of growing it and making it bigger and better than anything I’ve done before is exciting.”

The production on Young’s tour is indeed new and improved, as he supersizes video and lighting elements. “I want it to look good. The visual aspect is a big part of your show,” he says. “But I try not to annoy my guys too much. . . I have really great crew guys out with me.”

And while he’ll play all of the hits, from “Voices” to “Aw Naw” to “Think of You,” Young plans on shaking up the set list a bit. His cover song choices through the years have ranged from ZZ Top’s “Sharp Dressed Man” to Keith Whitley’s “When You Say Nothing at All,” and now the singer is contemplating a major cover curveball: Imagine Dragons’ “Roots.”

“We may do. . . not a country version but a little less trip-hop,” Young hints. “We’ll play around with it.”

The fall leg of Young’s I’m Comin’ Over tour begins September 29th in Bakersfield, California. See the full list of tour dates below, and get tickets at and
