Chris Lane Reveals ‘Girl Problems’: The Ram Report

Country newcomer’s debut album shares a producer with Nickelback, Florida Georgia Line

When Chris Lane was in a Nashville studio working on his debut album, he noticed a trend: “Every song seemed to be about some type of girl problem,” reports the North Carolina native. So, titling the project was an easy task.

Lane’s Girl Problems hits stores August 5th. It’s already off to a career-catapulting start with “Fix,” the infectious pop-country track that just passed 19 million streams on Spotify and 3 million hits on Vevo. (It didn’t hurt that Selena Gomez called it her favorite new song in a recent radio interview, either.)

“Once that song came along, I discovered this sound that you don’t hear a lot in country music, which is the falsetto part,” he tells iHeartRadio of the Sarah Buxton, Jesse Frasure and Abe Stoklasa-penned “Fix.” “I talked with my producer a lot about the kind of music I wanted to record and we both felt like this gave me a niche and voice in country that would hopefully separate me from some of what the other guys are doing.”

Girl Problems was produced by Joey Moi, who has been behind the board for several Nickelback, Jake Owen and Florida Georgia Line albums. Lane toured with FGL last year. He’s currently spending his summer as an opener on Rascal Flatts’ Rhythm & Roots tour.
