Charlie Worsham, Angaleena Presley Lead Country Albums Release Day

Worsham’s ‘Beginning of Things,’ Presley’s ‘Wrangled’ and Brad Paisley’s ‘Love and War’ all hit stores today

A trio of must-hear albums highlight this week’s new releases in country music.

Mississippi native Charlie Worsham unveils his long-awaited second album Beginning of Things, the follow-up to 2013’s Rubberband. The singer-guitarist’s new album is even more musically diverse than his debut, as Worsham dabbles in country, indie rock and jazz on songs like “Please People Please” and “Cut Your Groove.” A highlight, however, is “Birthday Suit,” an unabashed ode to getting naked, written by Luke Dick.

Angaleena Presley also drops her second solo album today. Wrangled takes Music Row to task for its treatment of female artists and features co-writes with Presley’s fellow Pistol Annies Miranda Lambert and Ashley Monroe. There’s also a collaboration with late songwriter Guy Clark on “Cheer Up Little Darling,” the last song Clark finished.

Finally, Brad Paisley returns with Love and War, his 11th album of modern and classic country. The Rolling Stone’ Mick Jagger, Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty and hip-hop producer Timbaland all guest on the project, which also includes Paisley setting an old poem by Johnny Cash to music, “Gold All Over the Ground.”
