Bob Dylan’s ‘Blonde on Blonde’ Album to Be Feted at Nashville Event

It’s been a half-century since Bob Dylan recorded Blonde on Blonde in Nashville, working with some of the city’s best session musicians along the way. Fifty years later, the album marks a creative high point for Dylan, who matched the firepower of his studio band with songs that blended the stomp of roots-rock with heady, off-the-wall lyrics.

To celebrate the record’s golden anniversary, the Country Music Hall of Fame is hosting a pair of concerts at Nashville’s CMA Theater this spring. Grand Ole Opry members Old Crow Medicine Show will perform the double album on May 12th and 13th, in the same building that currently houses the Hall of Fame’s “Dylan, Cash, and the Nashville Cats: A New Music City” exhibit. The aim is to shine a light on an album that helped broaden the definition of Nashville’s music community, opening the city’s recording studios to a number of songwriters — from Joan Baez to Leonard Cohen — whose music reached far beyond the boundaries of country music.

Tickets for the Blonde on Blonde show will be available starting April 1st, with prices beginning at $34.
