Blake Shelton, Usher Sing ‘Home’ at Oklahoma Benefit Concert

‘Healing in the Heartland’ held to aid victims of May 20th tornado

Blake Shelton closed out his “Healing in the Heartland” benefit concert last night on a duet with Usher. The pair, colleagues on NBC’s singing competition The Voice, performed Michael Bublé’s song “Home,” Reuters reports – a fitting choice, given that the concert was intended to raise money for victims of last week’s deadly tornado in Shelton’s native Oklahoma.

Held in front of a capacity crowd at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, the concert also featured performances by Oklahoma-born Reba McEntire, Shelton’s wife Miranda Lambert, Darius Rucker, Luke Bryan, Rascal Flatts and Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic.

Organizers have not said how much the concert raised for victims of the May 20th tornado, which killed 24 people, including seven children, when it struck Moore, Oklahoma, and surrounding towns. The twister was ranked an EF-5, the most powerful classification for tornadoes.

“People have given so much to us over the years and it’s times like this when you can give back,” Shelton told reporters before the event. “You have to. It’s not a question of ‘will you?’ You have to step up.”
