The creative mind behind Beavis & Butt-head and King of the Hill is turning his attention toward country music. Mike Judge is developing a new animated series about country’s most colorful characters.
Titled Mike Judge Presents: Tales From the Tour Bus, the new series will air over eight episodes on Cinemax. A premiere date has yet to be announced, but the show is expected in 2017.
Along with creating MTV’s iconic metalheads and good ol’ boy Hank Hill, Judge directed the cult classic Office Space and most recently helped launch HBO’s tech start-up series Silicon Valley.
Last year, Judge marked the 10th anniversary of his satirical sleeper Idiocracy with a series of special screenings. The film flopped upon release, but its plot – about a pro wrestler who becomes president of a dumbed-down America – has since been cited as prescient: the film is among Rolling Stone‘s list of 20 Movies That Predicted Donald Trump’s Rise.
