Americana Music Fest Kicks Off With Eclectic Lineup: The Ram Report

Almost 300 artists will perform at six-day Nashville event, from John Prine and Lee Ann Womack, to Sam Outlaw and Shovels & Rope

Nashville is host to six days of non-stop music this week, as the 17th annual Americana Music Festival officially begins today. In addition to about 300 artist performances, the event includes a conference for industry professionals and a star-studded awards show.

Among the legends on the bill are John Prine, Buddy Miller, Steve Earle, Shawn Colvin, the Indigo Girls and Jim Lauderdale. Participating acts who cross the country and Americana worlds include Lee Ann Womack, Wynonna, Sunny Sweeney, Jack Ingram and Will Hoge. And among the newer artists performing are Margo Price, Sam Outlaw, Aubrie Sellers, Shovels & Rope and Dylan LeBlanc. See the full lineup here.

The Americana Honors & Awards show takes place Wednesday night at downtown Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. Jason Isbell leads the pack of nominees with three nods — for Artist, Album, and Song of the Year. He’s up against Bonnie Raitt, Chris Stapleton and Lucinda Williams for Artist of the Year. Lifetime Achievement awards will be presented to Shawn Colvin and Bob Weir, with other special awards going to William Bell, Billy Bragg, Jim Lauderdale and Woody Guthrie.
