As the clearest sign yet of their roots-rock origin — and cross-genre appeal — Brothers Osborne opened for the Tedeschi Trucks Band at a March 3rd gig at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. The Grammy-nominated duo of singer TJ Osborne and guitarist John Osborne spent the afternoon sound-checking and preparing for their concert at the venerable venue.

In this photo gallery, Brothers Osborne, whose new single "21 Summer" was the most-added song at country radio recently, share their view from both backstage and in front of the enthusiastic crowd.

In the Limelight

"One of our favorite reasons for playing the Ryman is hearing the beautiful acoustics in that room," says John Osborne. "It's almost transcendent."

Plugged In

Brothers Osborne performances are as much about John's expert guitar playing as they are TJ's singing, as evidenced by the blazing guitar solo that closes "Stay a Little Longer."

Strings Attached

"You definitely don't want to break a string mid-set opening for Tedeschi Trucks," says John Osborne, putting on a fresh set of strings before the show.

“Summer” Is Coming

After the success of "Stay a Little Longer," Brothers Osborne's follow-up "21 Summer" became the most added song at country radio upon its release.

Hands On

Though he's partly the face of this operation, TJ helps the crew move monitors around the Ryman stage. Prior to showtime, he says he also scoped out the hall: "I ran out into an empty Ryman room just before they opened doors, to get a perspective of what it looked like from the audience perspective."

To the Stage

"We're en route to the stage just minutes before our show," explains John Osborne. "The mixture of emotions is overwhelming. It seems as if time almost stands still for a moment." Adds TJ of this shot: "We're following our manager John Peets from our dressing room to the stage."

Crowd Participation

"You can almost feel the ghosts in the room when playing the Ryman," says John Osborne. "It's like all of the people before you are giving you an eerie comfort while you're performing."

Finding the Groove

Brothers Osborne will spend part of 2016 opening shows on Miranda Lambert's Keeper of the Flame Tour, which also features Kip Moore.

The Big Payoff

"There's nothing I love more than playing a ballad and hearing it echo throughout the Ryman Auditorium," says TJ, who says the duo performed their stripped-down "Loving Me Back" this night. The Brothers will also likely perform the ballad on future tour dates: They're set for a stop at the Grand Ole Opry, as well as New Orleans JazzFest in late April.
