Porter Robinson 'Worlds' Album Review - Rolling Stone
Home Music Album Reviews

The first single from EDM wunderkind Porter Robinson’s full-length debut is a striking departure from most of the music you’ll hear at the dance festivals he frequents. "Sea of Voices" opens with wind chimes, airy harmonies and sweeping strings before giving way to a power-ballad beat. Worlds is full of similarly delightful risks: Robinson molds anthemic trance melodies around a New Wave beat on "Years of War," delivers a sweet duet with a robot babe on "Sad Machine," and peppers "Natural Light" with white noise. Although it doesn’t sound quite like EDM, Worlds manages to retain the thrilling rush of emotions that the best raves inspire.
