Why You Should Pay Attention: Last year's debut LP from Alvvays (pronounced "always") received loving praise from critics, largely for frontwoman Molly Rankin's grunge-band sensibility and ability to hit listeners squarely in the nostalgia bone. The Canadian quintet — who will be jumping from Texas into 15 dates with the Decemberists — offer a counterpoint to millennial apathy: Their sleeper hit "Archie, Marry Me" is filled to the brim with the self-conscious lovesickness they do so well.
