Northside Festival

When: June 8th-14th

Where: Brooklyn, New York

Why Go: In March, many New Yorkers ditch the cold by flying to Austin for a week of panels and bands. By the second week of June, when hometown temperatures reach 80, residents can get a similar experience to SXSW by walking a few blocks to Northside. The festival's 2015 edition might focus on indie rock (Best Coast, Built to Spill), but don't miss sets from Chicago footwork maestro DJ Spinn and Queens rapper Heems.

Must-See Acts: Neko Case, Best Coast, Against Me!, Sleigh Bells, Heems, the Very Best, Beverly, Ex Hex, DJ Spinn, Kal Marks, Total Freedom, Vulture Shit, Zola Jesus, Yvette, Femi Kuti and the Positive Force
