Jamie Kent

More Americana and folk than pure country, Massachusetts-bred, Nashville-residing Jamie Kent brings a rootsier edge to CMA Fest, favoring acoustic guitar and upright bass in his performances over anything too plugged-in or synthed-out. With a new record with producer Dave Brainard (Brandy Clark, Jerrod Niemann) in the can, Kent brings an emotional, lyric-focused point-of-view to the lineup, inspired by Steve Earle and Jason Isbell, where a good turn-of-phrase or strong, moody vamp is just as important as catchy hooks. But fear not — he's capable of those, too. Thursday, Durango Music Spot
