Album: Cruel Winter
Release Date: TBA
The fate of the follow-up to G.O.O.D. Music's massive 2012 LP Cruel Summer seemed uncertain in 2015 and 2016, as Kanye West and his assorted star collaborators appeared focused on a variety of solo projects. But then West premiered "Champions" on the Los Angeles radio station Real 92.3 last June and called it the lead Cruel Winter single. "You got like a solid seven, eight songs that we know is gonna make the album," West said. "We sit there and we work together on our stuff. I look at it as we on the same team."
Since then, reports on the LP's progress keep appearing in interviews with collaborators. Last August, Travis Scott told Rolling Stone that he was an executive producer on the project, and promised it would arrive before year's end. According to G.O.O.D. Music associate Cyhi the Prynce, the LP is now complete. "To be all the way honest with y'all, it's really done," he told Billboard in March. "The thing is, it's so many superstars, to get everybody on one accord and moving at the same time is tough. ... We got enough to put a Cruel Winter, Cruel Summer, Cruel Autumn and Cruel Spring out."
Whenever Cruel Winter arrives, Scott assured Rolling Stone that it will be incendiary: "We've got singles on top of singles on top of singles on top of nuclear bombs."
