Times Square tourists get more than they bargained for in a new teaser clip for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which finds Spidey battling his nemesis Electro (Jamie Foxx) at the neon landmark.
The new, minute-long teaser was unveiled on New Year's Eve and opens with a spirited introduction from Stan Lee. "I don't know about you, but I am so excited about this," enthuses the 91-year-old Spider-Man co-creator, "and I won't waste any more of your time!" The teaser fittingly jumps straight into a New Year Eve's countdown at Times Square, where electricity-hungry Electro rudely interrupts the festivities by siphoning off power — until of course, Spider-Man swings in. An enormous, building-shattering battle ensues – as does a glimpse of another nemesis, Rhino (Paul Giamatti), and some quick quips from our arachnid hero.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens on May 2nd. An earlier trailer depicted Harry Osborne (Dane DeHaan) stepping into the famed Green Goblin suit, and Jamie Foxx teased his luminous supervillain character in first-look footage at Comic-Con. Also, the film will be scored by an unexpected supergroup comprised of Pharrell Williams, former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger and veteran film composer Hans Zimmer.
