Melissa McCarthy stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday to debut the trailer for her new comedy, The Boss. In the film, McCarthy plays Michelle Darnell, America's wealthiest woman and worst employer. Just how rich is she? "I wanted to come down on a golden phoenix and I sure as shit did it," she says in the trailer, at a lecture in front of thousands of people.
After Darnell is busted for insider trading, the former titan of industry is forced to move in with one of her beleaguered ex-employees, played by Kristen Bell. Darnell befriends Bell's daughter before setting out to create a brownie empire with her girl scout troop, the Dandelions. At one point, she instructs a Dandelion to say to potential customers, "Buy my brownies ... or I'll kill you."
The comedy, due April 8th from Universal, is based on an original character of McCarthy's. The Boss also stars Peter Dinklage, Kathy Bates and Kristen Schaal. McCarthy wrote the screenplay with Steve Mallory and her husband, Ben Falcone, who will also direct the film.
