Johnny Depp will be able to add "Chinese reality show judge" to his long and impressive résumé on Friday when he helps select the winner of the hit show Chinese Dream Show, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Whoever Depp chooses will get the chance to return to Hollywood with him and live out their star-studded dream.
Shot in the city of Hangzhou, Chinese Dream Show offers ordinary citizens the chance to have their biggest wishes granted. Like American Idol, viewers vote for contestants based on performances and interviews with the host where they try to convince the audience why they should help make their dream come true. Secure enough votes, and you move on to the next round.
Depp told local media back in April that he took the role of arbiter on the show because he understood what it was like to hold on to a big dream, noting how he used to harbor rock star ambitions and only acted as a way to pay the rent.
While acting may still pay most of his bills, Depp does find ways to live out his rock and roll dreams: Earlier this month, Depp joined Willie Nelson's Family Band on stage in Boston (he's in town shooting the Whitey Bulger film Black Mass), playing guitar throughout the entire 85-minute show.
Depp recently appeared in the dystopian sci-fi flick, Transcendence and is slated to star in London Fields, a mystery thriller that's expected to see release sometime this year.
