Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 offered up a thrilling new preview of the upcoming Marvel blockbuster during Jimmy Kimmel Live Tuesday night, with Chris Pratt surprising the audience to deliver the trailer.
Like its previous trailers, this extended look at the sequel goes light on plot details to focus on the witty repartee between the Guardians.
With Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain" serving as soundtrack – following trailers paced to Blue Swede's "Hooked on a Feeling" and Sweet's "Fox on the Run" – the preview provides a humorous look at how the gang of space mercenaries are becoming an unlikely family.
The latest trailer also finally reveals Kurt Russell's character, Ego, the Living Planet, who is also the father of Chris Pratt's Star-Lord. Elizabeth Debecki's golden priestess Ayesha also makes her first appearance, but the nature of Sylvester Stallone's role remains a mystery. This film will set up the Guardians to join the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Infinity War as evidenced by a first look video from the set.
"So we're saving the galaxy again? Awesome. We're really gonna be able to jack up our prices if we're two-time galaxy savers," the Bradley Cooper-voiced Rocket Raccoon quips.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, one of Rolling Stone's Most Anticipated Movies of 2017, hits theaters May 5th.
