Last summer, Icelandic experimentalist Bjork appeared in the hour-long Channel Four documentary, When Bjork Met Attenborough, which found the singer and British naturalist David Attenborough examining the parallels between nature and music. Now the project is being released internationally in DVD format on May 5th by One Little Indian.

The documentary (featuring narration from Tilda Swinton) was inspired by Bjork’s 2011 multimedia project Biophilia, which encompassed her eighth studio LP (a spacey, textural affair that earned a four-star assessment from Rolling Stone‘s David Fricke), apps, installations and a jaw-dropping live show – as well as a spoken introduction from Attenborough.

In the original Channel Four trailer below, Bjork sums up the documentary by saying, “This project is about celebrating how sound works in nature.” Later in the clip, Attenborough marvels at the mathematical design of her music. The DVD is currently available for pre-order in the One Little Indian shop

Last November, Bjork spoke with Rolling Stone about how technology has shaped her career as a musician and businesswoman: “Technology used to complicate things, and now it’s simplifying,” he said. “I’ve gone up, like, nine points in being a businesswoman because I’ve got a little organizer, and I can write songs and arrange things. You just need the machine, and you can put out records. So record companies, you won’t need them, and you won’t need media because of Internet.”
