The film reunites the two Other Guys, but this time they’re pitted against each other as Brad, a mild-mannered step-dad played by Ferrell, and Dusty, a motorcycle revving, zero crap giving biological dad, played by Wahlberg. In vying for the love and affection of Sarah — played by Freaks and Geeks‘ Linda Cardellini — and the two children, Ferrell and Wahlberg easily manage to warp family fun into something hilariously destructive.
In the clip, Ferrell crashing Wahlberg’s motorcycle through the front door of his home, accidentally — and drunkenly — pegging a Los Angeles Lakers cheerleader with a basketball and electrocuting himself on hanging wires in a skateboarding mishap. Even trying to crack the Boogie Nights star’s chiseled jaw leaves Ferrell clutching his fist in pain: “Did you just punch me in the face, friend?” Wahlberg asks, as if a fly just landed on his chin.
Daddy’s Home also features Thomas Haden Church, Alessandra Ambrosio, Hannibal Buress and Paul Scheer. The film was co-written by Brian Burns (Entourage, Blue Bloods), Sean Anders and John Morris, and directed by Anders and Morris, who have previously penned comedies like Hot Tub Time Machine and We’re the Millers. Daddy’s Home opens December 25th.
