The new trailer for the latest animated adaptation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s beloved children’s book The Little Prince shows the heart and magic of the classic tale. The animated feature will debut on Netflix and in select theaters on August 5th.
In director Mark Osborne’s adaptation, the story of the aviator and the prince is framed with one about a young girl and her mother who has plotted out the girl’s whole life. She befriends the aviator who tells her his story and about his friendship with the prince all while encouraging her to never let go of her youth and imagination. “Growing up is not the problem – forgetting is,” the aviator tells her.
Jeff Bridges, Rachel McAdams, Paul Rudd and James Franco all voice roles in the stop-motion feature, which was originally meant to premiere in the United States on March 18th of this year. It debuted at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and was released in France last summer. Paramount, its original distributor, dropped the film quietly before Netflix acquired it.
