Watch Magical Trailer for ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’

‘Harry Potter’ spin-off to be released worldwide in November

The first trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has finally debuted. The magical film is a spin-off of J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series based off the fictional guidebook of the same name that breaks down all the magical creatures in the book and film’s universe.

The short preview introduces viewers to the film’s central struggle: the escape of magical beasts from an open briefcase belonging to wizard Newt Scamander, played by Eddie Redmayne, who is also billed as the author of Rowling’s 2001 guidebook. The accidental release of the species causes dire consequences across the wizarding and non-magical worlds, as teased in the trailer.

The film will be released worldwide on November 18th and will arrive five years after the final film in the Harry Potter franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part Two. Fantastic Beasts is also J. K. Rowling’s first screenplay. According to Hypable, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara is planning for the series to be “at least” a trilogy, with sequels to be released in 2018 and 2020.
