Watch Final ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Trailer

“It’s true. All of it. The Dark Side. A Jedi. They’re real,” Han Solo says in final preview before film’s arrival

With just under two months before Star Wars fans once again travel to a galaxy far, far away, Disney has offered up the final trailer for the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Teasers for the trailer hinted that “the First Order is coming,” and in the latest preview, fans get a glimpse of the new installment’s main villain Kylo Ren as he promises Darth Vader’s crushed mask, “I will finish what you started.”

The trailer also ties together the loose strands in the decades following Return of the Jedi: The original trilogy has become legend in the Star Wars universe, but as Harrison Ford’s Han Solo tells Daisy Ridley’s Rey, “It’s true. All of it. The Dark Side. A Jedi. They’re real.” The preview also features John Boyega’s Finn facing off in a light saber battle against Kylo Ren. Even a hooded Luke Skywalker makes a brief cameo, with his robotic hand reaching out to R2-D2 at the 1:40 mark.

Advance ticket sales for The Force Awakens also opened in conjunction with the film’s final trailer, which aired during Monday Night Football; the film’s official movie poster accompanied the announcement. Demand for opening night tickets was so high that Fandango and other major theater chain sites crashed from the deluge of traffic. Star Wars: The Force Awakens will have its world premiere December 14th in Los Angeles, with a December 18th U.S. theatrical release scheduled.

The first The Force Awakens trailer arrived 11 months ago; it was followed in April with the first look at Harrison Ford reprising his role of Han Solo. The new film will feature cast members from the original Star Wars trilogy, including Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, reprising their roles alongside newcomers John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o, Max von Sydow and Andy Serkis.

The Star Wars saga will continue in 2016 with an anthology film titled Rogue One. That movie, which precedes Star Wars: A New Hope in the franchise’s line, will focus on the mission to steal the plans for the Death Star, which sparked the action of the 1977 film. Directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Hannibal‘s Mads Mikkelsen and Forest Whitaker, Rogue One is due out December 16, 2016.

The Rian Johnson-directed proper sequel to The Force AwakensStar Wars: Episode VIII in the chronology – will tentatively arrive on May 26th, 2017.
