Daniel Radcliffe: actor, wizard, rapper. The Harry Potter star delivered a dexterous version of Emimem’s “The Real Slim Shady” during a recent karaoke night at Cameron’s Irish Pub in Half Moon Bay, California. Luckily, an audience member filmed the performance and uploaded the results in the above YouTube clip.
Despite some intense rhythmic issues, Radcliffe nails every line of the 2000 classic – channeling his inner Marshall Mathers as he ricochets over the spongy beat. His girlfriend, actress Erin Darke, acts as back-up dancer and hypewoman, joining the actor for shouted choruses. The best part is hearing Radcliffe boast, “There’s a million of us just like me, who cuss like me, who just don’t give a fuck like me.”
This isn’t Radcliffe’s first moment of viral video hip-hop greatness. In October, he stunned fans with an epic, word-for-word rendition of Blackalicious’ 1999 track “Alphabet Aerobics” on The Tonight Show. The actor also noted his Emimem appreciation, foreshadowing his recent karaoke turn: “I think I was the first kid in my class to learn the words to ‘The Real Slim Shady,'” he told host Jimmy Fallon, explaining his passion for memorizing “complicated, lyrically intricate and fast songs.”
Meanwhile, Radcliffe’s acting schedule has remained busy. He made a cameo in Amy Schumer and Judd Apatow’s new film comedy, Trainwreck and will co-star as Igor in the upcoming Victor Frankenstein, a re-exploration of the epic horror tale which hits theaters on November 25th.
