Ron Howard and Brian Grazer will make a meta-cameo in the upcoming fourth season of Arrested Development, appearing as themselves as producers trying to make a movie about the show’s beloved Bluth family, Howard told TV Guide.

“One of the very last lines in the show was when I say in voice-over, ‘I don’t think [Arrested Development] is a TV show; maybe it’s a movie,'” said Howard, who executive produces the show and narrates it. “So in the new season, we create a heightened version of Imagine Entertainment,” the production company he and co-producer Grazer run.

“We talk about what could be our new Da Vinci Code,” Grazer said, in reference to the 2006 film he co-produced and Howard directed.

Michael Bluth himself, Jason Bateman, added that in one episode he, Howard and Grazer get stuck in an elevator; though, as Howard noted, it doesn’t become your run-of-the-mill trapped in a small space sitcom scenario: “It has a lot to do with our inflated egos.”

Arrested Development is set to make it’s return this May on Netflix, with every episode of its fourth season premiering at once. Rumors continue to swirl about whether or not the series reboot will indeed be followed by an official movie, but there’s been no official word yet. Until then, Howard and Grazer’s meta movie will have to satiate fans.
