The long-running PBS showcase will feature six new episodes, beginning January 4th with Queens of the Stone Age. Josh Homme’s band this year released . . . Like Clockwork, the group’s first new album since Era Vulgaris in 2007. See them perform “Smooth Sailing” below.
Jason Isbell and Neko Case will share the bill on January 11th (he put out Southeastern in 2013, while she released The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You). Dawes and fun. split the ticket on January 18th (Dawes’ latest album, Stories Don’t End, came out in April), while Portugal. The Man and Local Natives are on tap for January 25th.
The show will take a rootsier turn on February 1st with Sarah Jarosz and the Milk Carton Kids, before wrapping up February 8th with Kacey Musgraves and Dale Watson. Musgraves had a breakout year with her major-label debut, Same Trailer Different Park.
Before the second half of Season 39 starts, Austin City Limits will show all of Tom Waits‘ 1978 performance – which the program says is one of its most requested episodes – on December 21st.
Previous ACL performances this year have included Phoenix, Vampire Weekend, Grizzly Bear, Latin star Juanes and the Lumineers.
