As Katniss, played by Jennifer Lawrence, pleads for help from previous victor Haymitch Abernathy (played by Woody Harrelson), he has some bracing words for the novice winner and her would-be beau, Peeta Mellark (played by Josh Hutcherson). “You never get off this train,” Abernathy says. “You two are mentors now. Your job is to be a distraction so people forget about what the real problems are.”
The real problems will get plenty of attention when The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens in theaters on November 22nd. The first film, which Peter Travers said “radiates a hot, jumpy energy that’s irresistible,” has grossed more than $680 million worldwide since it opened in March 2012.
