‘Hillary’s America,’ ‘Batman v Superman’ Victorious at Razzie Awards

Dinesh D’Souza’s “documentary” wins Worst Picture, Worst Director, Worst Actor (for D’Souza’s narration) and Worst Actress (for Hillary portrayer)

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and the documentary Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party both picked up four Razzies to dominate the 37th Golden Raspberry Awards, Hollywood’s annual celebration of the year’s worst films.

Dinesh D’Souza’s reviled “so-called documentary” was named Worst Picture of 2016 along with Worst Actor (for his own narration), Worst Director and Worst Actress (for whoever portrayed Hillary Clinton in the film).

“And the reason you’re giving it to me is because you’re very upset that Trump won. You haven’t gotten over it and you probably never will,” D’Souza said in a videotaped acceptance speech.

The Razzies, typically held the same weekend as the Academy Awards, also honored Batman V Superman with Worst On-Screen Duo (Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck), Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel, Worst Screenplay and Worst Supporting Actor (Jesse Eisenberg).

Other Razzie winners included Kristen Wiig (Worst Supporting Actress for Zoolander 2) and, in the evening’s lone complimentary trophy, Mel Gibson was named the Razzie Redeemer Award after returning to Oscar-nominated glory with Hacksaw Ridge.

The 2016 Razzies featured a Worst Picture tie between Fantastic Four and Fifty Shades of Grey; Fifty Shades Darker is eligible for the 2018 Golden Raspberry Awards.
