Breaking Bad fans who were upset at the fate of Jonathan Banks’ character Mike Ehrmantraut will be happy to know he’s been granted a second life. Deadline reports that Banks has signed to reprise his role as a series regular on Better Call Saul, the spinoff prequel series due this November on AMC.  He joins Bob Odenkirk, who plays the titular character Saul Goodman, as the only other confirmed cast member. Banks’ exit from Breaking Bad came at the midway point of Season Five, when Ehrmantraut, a professional “fixer,” was taken out by Walter White (Bryan Cranston). Since then, he’s booked a reoccurring role on Community and is will appear in the upcoming comedy Horrible Bosses 2, alongside Jason Bateman, Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Spacey.

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has hired writers of the original series to help develop Saul – and while stars Cranston and Aaron Paul haven’t been confirmed for any parts yet, they’ve both publicly stated that they’d like to be involved. Just yesterday, Cranston told Rolling Stone “I’d be open to it for sure. It’d be fun to go back into the New Mexico desert and play with all my old friends.” Paul also recently declared his ambitions to Details, stating “Both Bryan and I want to be a part of [Saul], if they’ll have us.”
