Creator Mitchell Hurwitz apparently shot more material than planned, which prompted new ideas for additional scenes and storylines. Because the cast members are busy with various other projects, the show is on hold while Hurwitz reviews existing footage and decides how best to work in the new arcs. When he’s finished, the studio, 20th Century Fox, will line up the actors, with shooting expected to resume in late January.
Netflix, which plans to make all the episodes available at once sometime next spring, wouldn’t talk numbers. “We are thrilled with the direction of the show, with the footage we have seen and with the relationship between Mitch” and the other parties involved, a Netflix spokeswoman said. “At this time, we are not confirming or announcing the final episode count but we are sure fans will be thrilled when we do.”
