Amy Schumer is set to write and appear in her first big-screen starring role in the upcoming comedy Trainwreck. Judd Apatow will direct the film, his first since 2012’s This Is 40. On Wednesday, Schumer and Apatow unveiled the film’s trailer exclusively through Twitter.
In the comedy, Schumer stars the titular “trainwreck,” a writer at a men’s magazine who doesn’t believe in monogamy or the institution of marriage. All that changes when she’s tasked with interviewing a surgeon played by Bill Hader (the 13th best SNL cast member ever), with the two developing a romance (or a prolonged one-night stand, as Schumer’s character would view it).
Apatow’s films usually feature some jaw-dropping, hilarious celebrity cameos – think Eminem in Funny People or Steve Carell and Ryan Seacrest in Knocked Up – and Trainwreck continues that tradition with what looks like an amazing guest-starring role by basketball great LeBron James. The Cleveland Cavalier plays a Downton Abbey-loving friend of Hader’s surgeon, and in addition to doling out dating advice, James delivers the line, “My boy got intimate. Sexual intercourse. Ohh!”
The film also stars Saturday Night Live cast member Vanessa Bayer, Tilda Swinton, Daniel Radcliffe, Marisa Tomei and WWE wrester John Cena of a prospective suitor of Schumer’s that looks like “[a] Mark Wahlberg [who] ate Mark Wahlberg.” Trainwreck hits theaters July 17, 2015.
