Yesterday we celebrated the 15th anniversary of Jackass' premiere MTV episode by asking Johnny Knoxville and his merry band of masochists to look back on 12 of their most outrageous stunts and pranks. We also asked you to let us know your favorite Jackass moments by tweeting at us using the hashtag #Jackass15. You sickos came through with a veritable cornucopia of the franchise's most cringe-inducing clips. Here are the top five picks.
If he hadn't decided to pursue a career in taking punishment for strangers' amusement, Dave England could have been a chef. That is if being a chef involved eating the ingredients of a particular meal — in this case an omelet, raw eggs and all — then puking them back up and cooking the whole mess in a frying pan. Actually, on second thought: That's disgusting and this guy shouldn't be allowed near a kitchen.
Ryan Dunn (R.I.P.) will always be remembered for this climatic sequence from 2002's Jackass: The Movie in which he shocks and appalls an unsuspecting doctor and his staff when they take an X-ray of his abdomen to discover that there's a matchbox car stuck in his rectum. More impressive, though, is how much Dunn manages to disgust his fellow Jackasses while lubing himself up and inserting the toy into his rear end beforehand in a hotel room. That takes some doing.
"Terror Taxi" from Jackass Number Two is like a great thriller condensed into a few perfect minutes: It's full of twists and turns and culminates in what may be the mother of all double-crosses. When the gang reveals to Ehren McGhehey that the joke has been on him the whole time — and just the extent of the grossness of that joke — it's a flip-around to rival the climax of The Usual Suspects.
Steve-O, Bam Margera, Dave England, Ehren Mcghehey, Chris Pontius and Loomis Fall, dressed in cartoony striped convict jumpsuits, stage a prison break, with Johnny Knoxville and Wee Man, wearing police outfits, in hot pursuit. All that stands between them and freedom is a hallway filled with stun guns dangling from the ceiling. Screaming, spasming and shouting ensue as the gang is repeatedly zapped. And yet, Pontius, mad man that he is, makes it through with a smile, even after getting tased. Margera, in contrast, exclaims after, "Stun guns are the Number One most thing that I hate now!"
Something about this Jackass 3D prank clearly resonated with you because it was your clear pick for Numero Uno. Maybe it's the sublime mix of cartoonishness and cruelty, the banality of the office setting or the hilarious looks of confusion and disbelief that beset the stunt's various surprise victims, including Ehren McGehey who gets nailed while holding a tray of soup, and Bam Margera who takes a full-body slap while the massive hand is strapped with bags of flour. Whatever the reason, "The High Five" is a classic.
