The Golden Globes are often considered the bastard stepchild to the Oscars – people don't take them as seriously, including the celebrities themselves. But that doesn't make them any less entertaining. In fact, the Globes are what you tune in to if you want to see celebrities in their natural habitat. Covering a wide swath of TV and film, the awards are handed out during a booze-fueled night where stars sit around giant banquet tables chatting and waiting for their possibly tipsy turn to step onstage. Here, some of the more memorable moments to come out of the event.

An Offer He Can Refuse

Marlon Brando refused to accept his Best Actor award for his career-defining role in The Godfather in 1973 to protest U.S. "imperialism and racism." (He also didn’t accept his Oscar statuette that year for the same reason.) It was only the second time in Globes history that someone rejected an award.

Her Heart Will Go On

Globes darling Kate Winslet got fans' hopes up when she professed her love for Leonardo DiCaprio during one of her 2009 acceptance speeches. After blowing her a couple of kisses, DiCaprio actually looked a bit uncomfortable as her gushing continued and the camera stayed focused on him. The pair, best friends since co-starring in the blockbuster Titanic, reunited for the film Revolutionary Road, for which she won the award. She'll never let go . . .
