2018 Oscars Red Carpet: What the Stars Wore

The contenders for the 2018 Academy Awards arrived Sunday night for Hollywood’s biggest night. The celebrities certainly weren’t shy about showing off glitz and glamour, as they also talked about diversity in nominees and the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements. The 90th Academy Awards air March 4th on ABC with Jimmy Kimmel as host.

Mary J. Blige

Mary J. Blige is nominated for both Best Supporting Actress for her role as Florence Jackson in Dee Rees’ acclaimed Netflix drama Mudbound as well as in the best song category. She performs her Oscar-nominated song, “Mighty River,” at the 90th Academy Awards in Los Angeles.

Jordan Peele arrived at the Academy Awards with his wife, comedian Chelsea Peretti. The director of Get Out also wore a golden deer antler pin (featuring blood spatters) on his left lapel, a nod to the deer symbolism shown throughout his film.

Girls Trip star Tiffany Haddish showed up the 90th Academy Awards dressed in a gown that paid tribute to her late father’s Eritrean heritage. As she explained on the red carpet, he said, “‘One day, you’re going to end up at the Oscars and when you go, you have to honor your people.’ So I’m wearing an Eritrean, authentic princess dress. And I’m proud of it.”
