Pokemon Go may soon see its first Legendary Pokemon ... that is if the people gathering at this weekend's Pokemon Go fest in Chicago are good enough to kick-off the worldwide release of the new pocket monsters.

"On July 22, thousands of Trainers in Grant Park for Pokemon Go Fest and the millions of others around the world will be working together to unlock in-game bonuses for the entire Pokémon GO community," according to a post that hit the official Pokemon Go page this morning. "If they manage to catch enough Pokemon during the Pokemon Go Fest Challenge Windows, the first Legendary Pokemon will be revealed in Grant Park. If the Trainers in Chicago succeed in defeating the Legendary Pokemon, that Pokemon will start appearing in Raid Battles around the world, after Pokemon Go Fest."

It's not entirely clear what happens if the players fail to defeat the game's first-ever Legendary Pokemon, but it sounds like no matter what happens in Chicago this weekend, the rare, powerful creatures will soon be rolling out worldwide.

"As Trainers around the world go out and explore their neighborhoods in search of Pokemon and Raid Battles, they can keep an eye out for unique Legendary Eggs appearing at Gyms," according to the post. "If Trainers and their team are able to successfully defeat a Legendary Raid Boss, they’ll have the opportunity to catch a Legendary Pokemon of their own! While Legendary Pokemon will help them take on the toughest Raid Bosses and Gym Battles, they’re not willing to leave their Trainer’s side, so they can’t be left to defend Gyms."

Pokemon Go Fest, the first big, official festival for the incredibly popular augmented reality mobile phone game, kicks-off this weekend. The tickets for the event sold out in record time. Players who weren't able to snatch up a ticket can still watch the official official livestream on Twitch or YouTube.

Things might not get quite as exciting as the new video showing off a fantasized version of a Legendary Raid, but I'm sure it will still be pretty fun.
