The Best (Overlooked) Games of 2017
Ten hidden gaming gems you may have missed in 2017

Torment: Tides of Numenera
The spiritual successor to one of the most highly regarded isometric computer RPGs of all time, Torment: Tides of Numenera shows that even in 2017 that formula remains one of the best vehicles for video game storytelling. It’s also a great reminder how much fun managing a party of characters with diverse skills and abilities (and personalities) can be, especially when supported by a rules system with all the depth and flexibility of classic tabletop RPGs. Like Planescape: Torment before it, Tides of Numenera inverts traditional fantasy tropes and twists and distorts them in wildly interesting ways, offering a dimension-hopping adventure that manages to surprise even after you’ve accepted its bizarre, singular setting.
