Quake Champions will be out on PC later this year, and is aiming for the esports market promising leagues, tournaments and championships for fans. “With Doom the studio really hit on the core fundamentals of what people enjoyed about the franchise," id’s creative director Tim Willits told PC Gamer. "So with Quake, we want to keep the scope tight; the focus tight—that’s why it’s PC only. We want to do the best competitive multiplayer game that we can.”
It's a spin-off from id Software's classic Quake shooter, which has been around since 1996. The first game was hardcore, with a soundtrack from Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails, vaguely Lovecraftian influences and a super-fun Nailgun.
