Watch Nintendo's Miyamoto and The Roots Perform 'Super Mario Bros.' Theme

'The Tonight Show' also featured the first time 'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' has been seen running on Nintendo Switch

Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto plays the Super Mario theme with The Roots NBC

The Tonight Show's band had a surprise addition tonight, as Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario and games icon, joined The Roots to play the Super Mario Bros. theme.

The president of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aimé, also dropped by with Nintendo's upcoming console, the Switch for a quick game of the highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – the first time the game has been shown on Switch ever.

We expected to see some Super Mario Run action from Miyamoto, given that the game is out on iOS next week, but an early look at the Switch was a huge bonus surprise. Nintendo isn't revealing any more details on that until its event on January 13th in New York where it's expected to reveal important details like price, release date and a specific list of launch games.
