Games for Change Day 2: ‘Minecraft,’ the women of 'Overwatch,' and Henry David Thoreau
The second day of the 14th Annual Games for Change Festival is in the books. Highlights included a panel discussion with some of the voice actors of Overwatch. Anjali Bhimani (Symmetra), Lucie Pohl (Sombra), and Carolina Ravassa (Mercy), along with the senior casting director and voice director at Blizzard, Andrea Toyais, talked about the process of bringing strong female characters to life. Results were announced for the Minecraft Curriculum Hackjam, which brought together 35 educators, eight students, and six Minecraft mentors to craft new lessons using Minecraft: Education Edition. Festival attendees were also treated to a live “Well Played” session with Walden, a game based on a Henry David Thoreau story that won multiple awards on Monday.
