15. Sentinels of the Multiverse (2014)

Digital card game Sentinels of the Multiverse gave players decks representing the powers and equipment of a single superhero and then set them up in co-operative battles against supervillains. It reimagined boss fights as games of Magic: The Gathering. The mechanics were well-adapted to the heroes, so that for instance the speedster Tachyon burned through cards fast, then pulled out a move that caused a point of damage for every card of a certain type she'd used so far. Like the Flash or Quicksilver, she launched flurries of attacks before coming back for the big finisher. Every deck in Sentinels modified the rules in its own way, creating big team-up fights like you were at the end of a six-issue miniseries.
