19. The best thing to come out of 'Episode I'
With the possible exception of the Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon versus Darth Maul on Naboo, the Podracing scene was most people's favorite part of The Phantom Menace. More than a month before the release of the film, LucasArts whetted our appetites for the exhilarating sequence with a very solid racing game found at many a Toys R Us gaming kiosk for everyone to play. Going into the film, Racer players already felt some degree of attachment to everyone from Anakin and Sebulba to bit players like Teemto and Ben Quadinaros. Even though Sega's arcade-based take on the event and Rainbow Studios' Racer Revenge for PS2 would come to offer objectively better Podracing experiences, being first and being quite good in its own right has kept the original for N64, PC, and Dreamcast at the top of most fans' lists.
