29. Darth Vader riding a 'TRON' light cycle while racing Vanellope on the Sugar Rush Speedway
Sure, the unique Star Wars "play sets" for The Clone Wars, the original trilogy, and The Force Awakens were fun and all, but Disney Infinity 3.0's real potential came to life through its Toy Box mode – where anyone in the game could do just about anything with anyone else. Maybe you didn't put your Darth Vader on a TRON cycle against Vanellope yourself, but if you dabbled in the Toy Box long enough, you probably have your own ridiculous-yet-awesome story to tell of mingling Disney intellectual properties.
Of course, dealing with multiple IPs in one game can lead to some interesting demands from the various IP holders. "As VP of production, I constantly found myself in the thick of it all, and there are just so many incredible stories to tell," says John Vignocchi, formerly of Disney Interactive. "One of my favorites was when we had a ‘top to top' with Marvel and were 'strongly encouraged' to make sure that, even though Star Wars was the focus of the launch of Infinity 3.0, their characters were still going to be considered the most powerful in the game because 'after all, Thor is a god'… But of course, the beauty of Disney Infinity was that we put it in the hands of the fans and our passionate community to decide."
