20. Awesome dogfighting in mind blowing 640x480 resolution
By 1998, several console titles had featured Rebel starfighters in action, but none focused on the fantasy of piloting an X-wing much beyond a "blow up the Death Star" level – it was always treated more like "cameo gameplay". But then along came Factor 5 and its Rogue Squadron series. Finally, players could fully immerse themselves in a series of missions focused solely on dogfighting, be it commanding an X-wing, Y-wing, or A-wing, with enough of an arcade experience not to feel like the PC's X-Wing series – all with enough depth to take things beyond any flight levels in previous games. And to top it all off, Rogue Squadron was among the very first games on the Nintendo 64 to take full advantage of the Expansion Pak that allowed the game's resolution to increase from 320x240 to a stunning 640x480. For reference: our PS4 and Xbox One run at 1,920x1,080.
