Today at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford showed off something that looked a lot like Borderlands 3.
Now we have to point out that this was during Epic's Unreal Engine technology talk, and Pitchford did his best to stress that the above footage was just a technical demo. Honest.
"I do want to remind you, this is not a video game, this is a technology demonstration of some ongoing research and development at Gearbox Software. Some or all of the technologies that I demonstrated may be utilized for future Gearbox Software video games," he said.
As well as having the unmistakable Borderlands look there was something else to suggest the figure seen in the short clips was more than just a tech test. "I want you to forget about the fact that we cleverly placed the camera here so that her shoulder pad is occluding her face," says Pitchford.
Borderlands 2 was released in 2012 and Pitchford has said in the past that the company is working on the next game in the series, but didn't give any other details. "We could call it Borderlands 4 for all we know," he told PAX East.
