So long, 'Eve: Valkyrie'
Developer CCP is stopping work on Eve: Valkyrie, the virtual reality spinoff of massively multiplayer game Eve Online, according to an interview in the Iceland Monitor (via Polygon). Chief Executive Officer Hilmar Veigar tells the publication the game is being put "on the shelf." He adds CCP will stay out of the VR market entirely for the next two or three years.
In a statement to Polygon, CCP says it will now restructure its studios, condensing the five down to three: Reykjavik, Shanghai, and London. The studios in Atlanta, Georgia and Newcastle, UK will be sold, and severance packages and job placement assistance will be given to everyone affected. Eve Online and an upcoming project codenamed Nova won't be affected.
