'PUBG' is Donating $2 Million to Charity
PUBG Corp. is giving $2 million from 2017's Gamescom Invitational Crate key sales to charity, it announced today. The money is going to the PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Extra Life Charity Marathon, to Gamers Outreach, and to a separate charity campaign taking place later this year.
"We know from past events like the Twitch PUBG Winter Charity Invitational and the PUBG 2017 Charity Invitational that our community has a passion for giving back and helping others," said PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds lead community manager Sammie Kang. "It's been great to see content creators and their audiences using their talents for worthy causes, and PUBG Corp. is committed to supporting charity efforts with the same enthusiasm our players have shown. We've made an impact in the gaming world over the past year, and we're hoping to have even more of an effect on some outstanding charitable organizations in 2018."
Last year, PUBG Corp. donated $100,000 to the Twitch PUBG Winter Charity Invitational. Another $300,000 is going to help fund the PUBG Extra Life Charity Marathon, which takes place January 29th to February 2nd. Also, PUBG Corp. is working with Gamers Outreach to host a LAN tournament at Gamers for Giving 2018 and it will match community donations for both events.
