Hero Shooter 'Paladins' is Getting a Battle Royale Mode
Hi-Rez Studios' free-to-play hero shooter Paladins is getting a new game mode called Battlegrounds. If you listen closely, you can probably hear PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds publisher Bluehole's lawyers penning cease and desist letters in the distance. It wouldn't be the first time they threatened legal action against a competitor.
Paladins' new mode is obviously trying to hop on the battle royale bandwagon recently made popular by PUBG and Fortnite. Like those two games, Battlegrounds will drop 100 players onto a large map to fight among themselves, while a contracting fog slowly forces them into a smaller area. Unlike PUBG and Fortnite, however, Paladins will emphasize teamwork.
"Designed from the ground-up to be played in teams, players must work together to survive in Paladins: Battlegrounds," says Hi-Rez in a statement. "Supports struggle to keep their Front Liners alive, while Damage Champions let the bullets fly and Flanks look for any possible assassination."
Paladins: Battlegrounds comes out later this year.
