Nintendo CEO Wants Switch to Sell More Than 20M Units Next Fiscal Year
Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima has big ambitions for the Switch. In a recent interview with Kyoto Shimbun (translated by Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki), he says he wants the hybrid console to sell more than 20 million units in the next fiscal year. Nintendo recently revealed it sold more than 10 million Switch consoles this year, just four million shy of the revised estimates it released in October. The Switch was a bigger hit than Nintendo was hoping, Kimishima adds, and the company is working to increase the number of units on store shelves.
Kimishima also mentioned during the interview he wants to lengthen the time people spend with a game by releasing an abundance of downloadable content. (Thanks, Siliconera!)
