The N64 Controller is (Finally) Getting an Upgrade Thanks to Kickstarter
The Nintendo 64 controller is getting a facelift – 21 years after the console’s launch. A new video game accessory manufacturer called Retro Fighters created a Kickstarter this week to fund building a more modern, ergonomic version of the notoriously uncomfortable gamepad. Shaped like a Nintendo Switch pro controller or a Xbox 360 pad, it has a more comfortable analog stick, larger “C” buttons, and two new “Z” buttons right below the shoulder buttons. The controller doesn’t support USB, but Retro Fighters says it will release a second USB version if the Kickstarter is successful. The campaign has already raised over $42,000. It’s original goal was $13,000. Yeah, I’d say that's a success!
